Over 350 languages, more than 1600 dialects, nearly 650 tribes, so many religious and ethnic groups, so much cultural diversity…..and yet one country ! I feel so proud to be an Indian. With Independence, we just did not become free from the British rule; we regained the freedom to be what we are, to live the way we want to. And that freedom has been the hallmark of this great country. It is not a coincidence that India has hardly ever invaded a country in her long history – it is just her unwritten mission statement to be a giver, not a taker.
She gave the concept of zero to the world without which math and science would be groping in darkness; the game of chess, algebra and trigonometry; she gave the world its first university, the earliest school of medicine and four religions. The list is endless and unparalleled…..
